The number 138 in the Misfits song "We Are 138" is often interpreted as a reference to the science fiction novel "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess. In the novel, the protagonist Alex and his gang use the phrase "We are 138" as a way of identifying themselves. The number 138 has since become a symbol of rebellion and nonconformity, reflecting the Misfits' punk rock ethos.
