Buttercups are toxic to most animals due to the presence of a compound called ranunculin. One such animal is the caterpillar of the buttercup moth (Gnophaela vermiculata), which feeds exclusively on buttercups during its larval stage. **

No, rabbits should not eat buttercups. Buttercups contain a toxic compound called protoanemonin, which can cause gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea, and even more serious health issues if ingested by rabbits. It's important to ensure that rabbits have a diet that consists of safe and appropriate foods to keep them healthy and happy. Stick to feeding rabbits a diet of hay, fresh vegetables, and a small amount of pellets to meet their nutritional needs. **
